Olympics

This weekend saw the 2024 Olympics come to a close, so what better way to celebrate the achievements of the athletes, than to watch a movie about one of the Olympic sports?

So to start you off, do you have any films on your watchlist that feature either Archery, Athletics, Badminton, Basketball, Boxing, Canoeing, Cycling, Diving, Equestrian, Fencing, Football (Soccer), Gymnastics, Handball, Hockey, Judo, Rowing, Sailing, Shooting, Swimming, Table Tennis, Taekwondo, Tennis, Triathlon, Volleyball, Water Polo, Weightlifting or Wrestling?

Of course, while we've suggested some movies below that feature Olympic sports, don't let that stop you from lookingat other options.

For example you could watch a movie that stars an Olympian like Gymkata (1985), the so-bad-it's-good 80's classic starring Olympian Kurt Thomas. You can stretch the tropic slightly with Run Lola Run (1998), German film where the protagonist, Lola, has 20 minutes to gather a large sum of money to save her boyfriend - of course running features in several Olympic events.

The Winter Olympics is also an option of course with the likes of Cool Runnings (1993) or Eddie The Eagle (2016). Whatever your choice, however tenous you want to make it to fit the challenge, let us know!
